More than 300 students across five universities, four polytechnics, ITE and NorthLight School received the SIMPDF Study Awards (SA) in 2023 where close to S$1m was disbursed. At the four award ceremonies in September and October, former chairperson of SIMPDF, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, affirmed award recipients of their potential and urged them to never give up no matter what challenges they face in life. The SIMPDF SA aims to provide financial support to deserving Singaporean students to encourage them to strive for good academic performance and realise their fullest potential.

Award ceremonies for recipients from different levels were conducted separately over four days. The first ceremony was held on 13 September for NorthLight recipents in the school, followed by one for university recipients at SIM campus on 15 September. The third award ceremony took place on 18 October for polytechnics students at SIM auditorium while the last celebration happened on 30 October at ITE College Central for ITE recipients. Family members of up to two were invited to partake in the joy of the occasion. In attendance were also staff from the respective institutions whom SIMPDF had worked closely with in disbursing the funds.

As Board members and staff went around to interact with award recipients and their families during refreshment after the ceremonies, we were greatly encouraged by the resilience and courage displayed by them as they shared their journey on how they overcame adversities.

SIMPDF’s mission is to successfully bridge opportunities for Singaporeans by enabling them to realise their potential through access to different learning pathways. We fund projects/initiatives to support those who need a leg up.
