On 3 September, the SIM People Development Fund (SIMPDF), SG Enable, Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and SBS Transit Ltd (SBST) announced the launch of the Enabling Pathway Programme (EPP). The inaugural partnership under this Programme – Enabling Pathway Programme (Land Transport Engineering) (EPP LTE) – brings SBST on board as the first employer to support students with disabilities studying engineering courses at ITE.
Held at the Sengkang Rail Depot, the event was attended by some 200 guests, including Guest of Honour, Minister for Transport, Mr Chee Hong Tat along with Mr Jeffrey Sim, Group CEO of SBST; Mr Patrick Tay, Chairman of SIMPDF; Ms Ku Geok Boon, CEO of SG Enable; Ms Low Khah Gek, CEO of ITE.
The EPP LTE aims to enhance employment opportunities for students with disabilities by focusing on high-growth sectors with significant demand for technical positions. The programme seeks to align students’ courses of study with relevant job opportunities and provides comprehensive support throughout their journey from education to internships and full-time employment.
Mr Patrick Tay, Chairman of SIMPDF, expressed, “The Enabling Pathway Programme (EPP) will create meaningful learning and development opportunities for these students. Through these collaborations, we make inclusive hiring a reality, ensuring no one is left behind in our pursuit of progress.”
