Our Community

Both of my parents are not working currently due to health issues and were advised by the doctor not to work. My oldest sister is working part-time to support our family. The SIMPDF study awards helped me a lot as I am able to concentrate on my studies without the financial stress. I do not have to take up a lot of part-time jobs because of the award. I hope to further my studies upon graduation from ITE. I look forward to completing my education journey and support my family too. Thank you SIMPDF for being an important role in my education journey. It has made a big difference to my life.

I come from a single parent family. I work part-time to help out with the household expenses and support myself financially. And put the skills that I learn in my course to good use during my part time job because I help out in the lighting, data, and sound setup on some weekends. With the support, I can reduce the amount of part-time work and continue to have an active campus life without having to worry about the financial burden. I’m the class chairperson of my class, and I also participate actively in CCAs as a peer support leader. I'm also involved in the Audio-Visual Performing Management club as an EXCO member. I express my appreciation to SIMPDF for your support in my final year of study.

I'm currently living in a welfare home. My mother passed away when I was two years old. I work part-time as a food delivery rider on weekends to support myself. After receiving the SIMPDF study award, I can reduce the number of hours I work. Although it has been difficult, I am confident that pursuing education will help me secure a better future. I hope to progress to obtain a work study diploma and become an engineer in the automotive industry. Thank you SIMPDF for the award.

I'm from a single parent family and my father is the sole breadwinner. He provided for me, and my sister and he took on several jobs in order to care for us and I deeply appreciate his hard work. I am grateful for the SIMPDF Study Award. With the financial support of the award, I can better focus on my studies without worrying about finances. I aspire to be a registered nurse or paramedic to deliver holistic care to patients. Ultimately, I hope to become a travel nurse, where it may require me to work in diverse healthcare environments. I believe this will help me gain experience and develop professionally. Thank you SIMPDF for helping me to take one step closer to achieve my dreams.

From an early age, I have been captivated by how aircrafts defy gravity, and how they allow people to explore the world. That has always fuelled my curiosity. The aviation industry isn't just about aeroplanes, it is about connecting people and cultures. The industry is not merely about theory, it's about problem solving, critical thinking and working together as a team. It's also about embracing challenges and adapting due to the dynamic nature of the industry.

I'm currently pursuing a degree in computer science and specialising in cybersecurity. This passion started when I read about hospitals being attacked with ransomware during COVID-19 and I felt unjust for them. This is why I'm pursuing a degree in cybersecurity, with hopes of being a penetration tester to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Learning about the world of business during my time in university has evoked my interest in a management consultant field. I am passionate in helping businesses identify challenges and formulate solutions to produce positive business outcomes. Having acquired extensive knowledge about the business world in university, I dream of playing a pivotal role in the functioning and success of businesses and the community.

I'm aiming to be a physiotherapist who can effectively help my patients such that they can improve their quality of life and be able to perform every task with ease and without the pain. As such, with the privilege of studying physiotherapy, I wish to help those around me and free them from such pain. In the future, if I ever have the chance to further my studies, I aim to further my studies by taking a masters, so that I can expand my knowledge, and help more people.

My aspiration is to be someone who puts passion in her work. Hence, I intend to discover my passions and what I'm good at, especially in the arts. I hope to achieve that goal with this award.

My family has been struggling financially for a long time, largely due to employment circumstances. My life has been greatly improved by others and I would like to pay it forward. Thus, I look forward to contributing my best efforts to reduce poverty, improve education, and combat global warming. Thank you very much SIMPDF for this award.

My professional aspirations are deeply rooted in my passion for digital transformation and leadership. My goal is to assume a leading role that allows me to be the linchpin between technology and business objectives. I am excited about the prospect of leveraging technology to solve complex business challenges. I aim to be that person that not only identifies opportunities for digital transformation, but to also be the one who successfully implements them to create value for the organisation and its stakeholders. Most important of all, I look to do these while keeping a level of moral standards with humility, integrity and respect.

Since I was young, I had an interest in the audit and accounting industry. This started when I took principles of accounting in secondary school, which led me to study accounting in Singapore Polytechnic, and eventually in NTU. After graduating, I hope to begin my career as a junior associate in the Big Four accounting firms and eventually climbing to senior associate and audit manager role within the next 10 years.

As an engineering student, I've always had a strong interest in problem solving. This has prompted me to get out of my comfort zone to explore more opportunities out there where I can learn and grow. After studying in university for the last couple of years, I've realised that I find product management fulfilling, as it allows me to amalgamate my knowledge in both engineering and business.

I have always aspired to make a positive impact in the world, and I believe that my education is the key to achieving that. My dream is to become an assistant engineer where I can contribute my skills and knowledge into creating and making up new things. To reach this goal. I am committed to work tirelessly, excel in my studies, participate in relevant internships, and continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional growth. It's not just about obtaining the diploma; it's about acquiring the skills and experience that can empower me to make a meaningful difference. This award had not only provided financial assistance, but also served as a motivating reminder that hard work and dedication are recognised and rewarded.

My aspiration is to travel around the world to experience the cultures of different countries and try out their local cuisines because I am a big foodie. To achieve this, I believe education plays a crucial role to help me secure a stable source of income and work-life balance in the future. The award motivates me to work hard to reach the goals I have set for myself.

I want to say thank you to SIMPDF for awarding me the SIMPDF Study Award. It is a great motivation for me to work hard in my studies, while also easing my financial burdens. I would like to further my studies in the tourism sector with the help of the award.

I hope to enter the healthcare industry as a medical laboratory technologist or in another setting to help the society in one way or another. I hope to pursue my university studies in biological sciences or other majors which will give me that same level of fulfilment.

My aspiration is to provide help and support to vulnerable individuals. Nursing has allowed me to blossom into a compassionate and dedicated individual who is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. To achieve my aspiration, I strive to grab every opportunity to learn and gain diverse experiences during my upcoming clinical postings before graduation.

I was pleasantly surprised to be selected as a recipient of the SIMPDF Study Award. I had never received an award before, particularly for being a good student. It was such a new experience for me and I was glad I received this award in the presence of my parents. The award supported my family and me financially to purchase daily necessities especially on days when their salaries were delayed. The award also allowed me to make personal purchases such as stationery and a new bag for school. I am grateful to be a recipient of the award. It motivates me to always give my best.

I come from a large family of 10 with seven younger brothers. I am the eldest among my siblings, and my youngest sibling is only two years old. My father is the sole breadwinner of the family, and my mother is a homemaker. As the eldest child, I take on household chores after school to help in the family. The SIMPDF Study Award has really helped me with my schooling expenses. I do not need to stress over financial expenses, and this has helped me focus on my studies to achieve academic excellence. With the SIMPDF Study Award, I was able to significantly reduce the number of part-time jobs I had to take up to support myself. This allowed me to concentrate on my studies and internship, through which I gained valuable industry experience. With the support of the award, I was also able to participate in school enrichment activities such as teambuilding events, which enhanced my schooling experience. I aspire to further my studies upon completing my NITEC programme, to broaden my career opportunities and achieve financial stability in the future.

My aspiration is to have a stable job and be able to take care of my family. I aim to have a career that I love, in the same industry that I am currently studying. I intend to reach my goal by completing my diploma, and to take hold of every opportunity that will support my professional growth. The SIMPDF Study Award eased some of my financial burdens and allowed me to study without worrying about finances.

The SIMPDF Study Award provided me with valuable financial assistance which alleviated the burden of educational expenses and allowed me to pursue higher educational opportunities. Having received the award, I am motivated to perform well academically, so that I may gain admission to highly competitive university programmes, such as computer science and information security. This will enable me to kickstart my career in my desired industry – cybersecurity

I am extremely grateful for the SIMPDF Study Award which supported me in developing myself in the business development field, moving me closer to my goal of starting my own business. The award allowed me to focus on self-development be it in academia or skills acquisition without having to worry about my financial situation.

Thanks to the SIMPDF Study Award, I did not have to take on a part-time job to support myself. This enabled me to focus on my studies and self-initiated projects in preparation for my career. In 2023, my friends and I participated in the James Dyson Award: International Design Competition, and we emerged the national runner-up! We designed and built an affordable braille embosser out of a 3D printer for the visually impaired. Without the SIMPDF Study Awards, I wouldn’t have had the energy and time to hone my craft and participate in the competition.

I hope to share my e-commerce experience and knowledge with the business owners to help them reach a wider audience outside of Boon Lay. At the same time, I can gain real-world knowledge about managing a business from the business owners, something that cannot be taught within the classroom.

As a digital native, and someone familiar with e-commerce and data analytics, I can value add to the shop owners and hopefully boost their sales. I think it’s a great chance for me to contribute back to the community of heartland businesses that I grew up with.

Being a small business, our revenue is not very high. Also, with the COVID-19 pandemic, our customers’ needs have changed, with many preferring to shop online. I am open to learning from these youths to help my business do better through e-commerce. I also hope to share with the youths my experience in running a business.
